Sodium Levels

I was reading an article this morning about a study on Sodium. Thought I'd share it with those who have type 2 diabetes

Life in the Fat Lane 2 My reasons

My Goal is to write something daily. I need to stay on track. I have four grandbabies that I love and I want to live a long life to see them grow and expand in their lives.

Let me tell you about them.

J- He's my baby. He made me a meemaw and he has been the greatest blessing! I could never have imagined how much more my heart could expand before he made his arrival. He's got such a sweet soul. He's gone through a lot, his parents split up a few times before finally moving on from each other and He was always there to see and go through it with them. But, he's a fisherman and a hunter. He's sweet and quite a bit reserved. He comes by that naturally. I have a family full of reserved people. But if we allow you in our circle then you see a whole other side! My little blonde hair and blue eyes baby will always hold a special place in my heart!

Then E-Man- He's a wild child. He's so much his dad that sometimes I have to stop myself from calling him by his daddy's name. He's go go go, He's fearless, there's nothing he won't try. I worry about him most because you just never know what he might try! He's also the one who I feel bad for. He's his daddy's second child but at his dad's house he's the 3rd of 4 and at his mom's, he's the middle. Those kids always have it rough! He's brutally honest which is my favorite part of this child. But he's also full of bologna! He can tell the biggest stories!! You can't help but laugh. He's always bringing a smile to the faces of those around him......

L- He's a bonus baby. Not gonna lie when Lucas first entered the picture I was worried. He was very well known for Screaming fits. It was bad. I worried that he had some developmental issues that needed to be addressed. But, since entering the family he's grown quite a bit. He's got the best smile and he truly has a sweet heart! He does drive you crazy when you tell him no he'll ask 30 times more! I think he's going to be sporty which is something I never would have considered when he was little. But he's good at it. The hard part of sports for him is he doesn't like to sweat lol. I'm hoping he grows out of that and excels!

M- Oh this child!! She's a wild one. She's pretty cocky and not very respectful. She's the only girl in this bunch. She and E are a lot alike in the fearless category. I think she's going to break a lot of hearts. She's going to excel at anything she puts her mind to. I can't wait to see what her heart leads her to do!

These four make me want to be better, and do better!

Life in the fat lane

So on the 13th of this month, I set up a doctor appt. I normally don't bother. Seems you are never sick until you go to the doctor. However, my BP was 179/107 so I felt the need to get it checked. Lo and behold I'm on B/P meds now. He took blood and now I'm on statins and metformin. I will do whatever it takes to get off these meds.

Since that date, I cut out my beloved sweet tea for water. I've cut out a great deal of starches. I did however make indian tacos last night and I already regret it.

I'm finding that bread is the hardest part for me. I've got over to Daves Killer Bread. and Orowheat whole wheat bread. However, those are still carbs and I need to try for 1 slice a week or something. Those are lots of fiber, I need to find it in other places.  Luckily I like beans berries and Avacodo!

Because of Insulin Resistance, I've come to the conclusion that I need at least 50 grams of fiber each day to help balance my sugar levels.

I can say since I started this journey on the 13th I've lost 3lbs. May not seem like much to some. But for me each of those pounds is a step in the right direction!

Take my time and be patient!

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Romans 12:12.

Quote of the day

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.
